The Acronym of the Day is.....NRWBL

So what do I know about this league? Not a thing. They're like an enigma. No website. No nothing. Just 4 videos on Youtube. Knowing that I can tell you that those 4 videos were posted a few months apart which means one of two things: they rarely play or they rarely upload videos. Either way I cannot find a website for them and don't know if they're serious. They don't appear to be a running league yet I see no clear boundaries for fair/foul or singles, doubles, or triples. The one cool thing about where they play is that it has a high roof, the upper deck feature doesn't hurt either. A big turn off for a lot of indoor places to play ball is that the roof isn't tall enough, these guys could play year-round in a facility like this. I want to know more about this league so consider this a call-out. NRWBL, REVEAL YOURSELF!

  1. They have a website on eteamz: http://www.eteamz.com/nrwbl/

I was unsure if it was them at first, but "Estadio de Giovanni Sottile" shows up in the info of one of their youtube videos, and dates also match up. They have 10 teams and look to be really well organized, playing quite often. So, looks like the camera just rarely shows up.

I tried to dig up their rules, but gave up after a couple minutes of not finding anything. I'd guess they use something like: bobble/boot/misplay = single, ball off the ground that reaches the wall is a double, in the air off the way = triple, upper deck = home run... but that's just a guess. The architecture of that gym is amazing; beautiful place to play!

  2. Thanks for the information. I'm looking them up right now. I think I'll pass the link to Wiffleball100 and see if he thinks they can hack it in the NWLA.

  3. The NRWBL was formed in 2009 and is in the middle of our 4th season where we play Oct-Feb on Weds nights starting @ 8PM. We started as (8) 4 man teams and have grown to 12 teams. The field is an old gym with very high ceilings. There are lines on the floor to mark singles/doubles, there is a line on the wall about 4' up to mark triples, and the white/balcony is a HR. Games consist of 3 innings and the pitcher can only pitch one inning. If extra innings we play one inning where anyone can pitch. Season is 16 games followed by playoffs. League consists of all skill levels where half have played college baseball and some minor league experience.
