WWL - Year In Review
I've got to say that one of my favorite leagues to watch this year was the Washburn Wiffleball League in New York. They played a lot of games and put out a lot of videos. A lot of leagues don't bother to include playoff videos but WWL is not one of them, they posted it all. But they didn't stop at the championship...they made a SportsCenter parody called SportsCircle that highlighted the season as a whole. Most people can't pull off the SportsCenter parodies without failing miserably but WWL did a splendid job with this video; but don't take my word for it - watch it. They even did commercials.

Washburn Wiffleball League World Series
Bombers upset the favored Quackers in the Washburn Wiffleball League World Series (3-game series). Great highlights video, probably their best yet!

Sunday Double Feature
Double Feature today! First the WWL Week 9 Highlights...always a delight to watch because of the commentary. And then there's more from the dudes in Taiwan. I know that they look a little sloppy now but keep in mind that this game is super new for them. It'll take a while for them to come around for big hits and have good control and faster pitches. They're playing in a really public area too which is getting the game out there and the potential for growth is there. Wiffle in Taiwan will be a force to be reckoned with in the near future.

Two Leagues To Keep Your Eyes On This Summer
Two leagues that have really been getting my attention with their weekly highlights videos: Birkshire Wiffleball Association and Washburn Wiffleball League. The BWA videos have been improving over the past few weeks and I think they'll be one of the top new leagues to watch before this summer is over. Washburn Wiffleball League has been dazzling me with their highlights videos for a while now, especially since they've added commentary.

Washburn Wiffleball League Impresses
I was skeptical when all these NY leagues sprouted up seemingly overnight. I didn't think some of them would have the goods. Surely some of these leagues will be duds, I thought. To my surprise I was wrong, and in this circumstance that realization is met with cheerfulness rather than embarrassment. Chiefly among the leagues I expected to fail or at the very least stay under the radar was Washburn Wiffleball League. They have been uploading videos all season long and although their only in their 4th week I'm already a fan...the least I can do considering I expected them to flop. My apologies. I guess I just couldn't accept the fact that every league that has developed in one area so suddenly to be a success. There's an infant mortality rate of sorts that is very real among new leagues starting up. Many leagues never get a true start before being cut off and abandoned. It's a very easy thing to do, abandon such a big and time-consuming project. But WWL has brought the goods this season so far and I expect them to henceforth. Just what the Hell is going on in New York? What is in the water up there? NY has turned into a Galapagos for wiffleball leagues but I wonder how long that will last...

Washburn Wiffleball League start their debut season
Washburn Wiffleball League officially embarked on the beginning of their debut season yesterday afternoon. The Oatka Quackers beat the Wiffle Wonders in the game of the week with final score 11-8. Also the Workhorses beat the Bombers 14-13. This small 4-team league out of New York will probably be often over-looked but this league seems to have a handle on things. Although they have a leaguelineup site it's by no means bare and not cluttered with nonsense...a nice balance. The logos for the teams are pretty nice considering this is the league's first year. Like with most leagues, if you don't find all the info you want about them you can get the rest at their Facebook page. I think this small league is going to do well this season but I'm not sure their small voice will be heard among the hurricane of sound that's coming out of New York. With leagues like HFWB and Palisades WBL in the midst, this league is going to have to be content in the background for a while.

The 100th Post
It's had to believe that it's been three months since I started writing this blog. This is the 100th post! This is an exciting time of the year to be a wiffleball player or fan. It's a lot like going to a farmers market...almost everything is in season. All the other leagues that haven't begun their seasons yet will before this month is over. Kingston Wiffleball League (New York) starts their season today...so does Winston-Salem Wiffleball League! The new Washburn Wiffleball League starts their season next week! Oyster Bay Wiffleball League starts their season May 21st. Feel free to comment to inform me of any other season openers not previously mentioned.
