League Lineup Tutorial
There are a lot of you out there. And by you, I mean league lineup users. Nothing wrong with that. I'm not about to go on a diatribe about how aesthetically unappealing those sites can be...so fear not. But there is one obvious plus to using league lineup and that is the statistics feature. You can calculate just about anything with league lineup and too many sites are not utilizing it correctly. Enter Brandon Corbett and his latest article in his Your Junk My Happy Zone column: League Lineup Tutorial. If you run a league lineup site - read this article. Still not convinced? Here's the opening line: "League Lineup is not the prettiest thing out there. It is, however, really convenient for keeping stats. And stats, while essentially nothing more than ego driven fellatio, are an important part of the league dynamic." Ego driven fellatio? Yeah, you read right.

WSEM Discusses The "National Fixation"
Wiffle in SouthEast Michigan has come out with another fabulous podcast. But unlike their previous episodes they discussed the national scene for a little while, particularly leagues that are interested in coming to London, OH on July 13 to participate in the first ever NWLA tournament. Brandon Corbett also gives an update on two leagues that are having winter seasons, Tampa Bay Wiffle Ball and Hudson Valley WBL. If you are wanting to know a little bit about the NWLA tournament that is set to take place, listening to this podcast would be a great place to start...after all WSEM's commissioner, Carl Coffee, is the chief organizer of the tournament. London Wiffleball Tournament Date Announced
The long awaited date for the 14th annual London Wiffleball Tournament was finally released a couple of days ago - July 14 (Saturday). Brian Wheeler, the tournament's organizer, emailed us with the date and his hopes for it this year. Some leading commissioners of leagues in the NWLA that went to the tournament last year plan on getting more leagues involved. The plan is to get as many NWLA teams together the following Sunday to play each other. The event could also serve as a meet and greet that would otherwise never take place. Wheeler said in his email that he will cooperate with the NWLA in their efforts to play on July 15. Leagues with teams that plan on attending include, Wiffle in SouthEast Michigan, Potomac Wiffleball League, Kalamazoo Wiffleball League, HRL: Twin Cities, Ontario County Wiffle Association, National Wiffleball League, and Suburban Chicago Wiffleball League. If this occurred, it would be the largest known summit for independent wiffleball leagues to ever take place - a truly historic event. More details on this event as the tournament date comes nearer.

Wiffle Logos Resource
Brandon Corbett, of Wiffle in SE Michigan, has began constructing an interesting wiffle website. It's called Wifffle Logos Resource and he's been archiving the team logos of leagues and teams. So far he's only done a few leagues but I'm sure he'll have it all done by the end of next season. So why is he doing this? He explained on a thread on the NWLA messageboard, "Well, first off I love design and logos in general. Second, there are a ton of great (silly-great, and great-great) logos in use throughout NWLA, but usually don't get noticed outside of their own leagues. We already learn a bit about the cultural nuances, similarites, and differences of our leagues bumping shoulders on these forums; so, the WLR is a good way to extend that into seeing a bit more about a league through its creative side, as well." Noticed that teams from your league aren't featured yet? Try to help Brandon out by saving him a lot of legwork and drop him an email with the logos attached. So far he only appears interested in doing NWLA logos, once he gets that done he may or may not do GSWL and other non-NWLA organizations.

Let The 2012 Previews Begin
Wiffle in Southeast Michigan (WSEM) are officially the first league to come out with a 2012 preview video. Congratulations guys. It's good to see that these guys are so certain that they're having a 2012 season. I've personally met a few of them and they are a great group of players and I look forward to following them this upcoming season and seeing some of them at the 2012 London Wiffleball Tournament in London, OH this summer.

Palisades Draft and GDWL Spring Training Today
The Garrett Drive Wiffleball League will be having their first major spring training session for the year today. Up to this point there had only been a few small sessions but now that the weather has shaped up and college semesters will son be over the GDWL appears to be getting ready for some wiffleball. The league may see a few new faces as they try to make up for the loss of their 4th team from last season, the Neapolitan Creamers. Kevin Hancart (successful rookie on the Green Bears team last year) has started his own franchise called the Dirty Birds to fill in the gap. Returning this year are the Green Bears, Hot Dogs (2010 champions), and the Parasites. Some newer players will either be used for another team or two or to really beef up the 4 existing teams. The league also has a new field with a much higher fence, which should be interesting. And they will be filming their games in High Definition. 2011 looks to be promising for the GDWL. No word yet on when exactly their season starts, only that it will be in mid-May sometime.
In other news Palisades WBL will be having their 2011 Draft this afternoon. So if you're not doing anything at about 1:30 pm feel free to watch the draft live! You'll have to be quick though because the draft will only last about 30 minutes.
The Wiffle in SE Michigan "Wind Up" Preseason Tournament results are now up on their website. Check them out! Their season starts April 29th.

Kzoo and others busy this weekend into next week
So, it's spring time. No dip!? And spring time only means two things...
1) You will gain a new appreciation for allergy medication.
2) It's wiffleball season!
Some of the nation's best leagues are going to be busy this weekend into next week. Palisades WBL will be having their 2011 draft this Sunday, April 17th. Kalamazoo Wiffleball League will be having their season opener the following Monday on April 18th. Meanwhile Hess Field Wiffle Ball and Wiffle in SouthEast Michigan will be having preseason tournaments. This is a really exciting time to be in a league or just a fan of the game. From here on out places like the NWLA website, league websites and forums, and this blog will be constantly buzzing with news, stats, and all things wiffle. So if you're not used to the fast pace of wiffle news - fasten your seat belts because it's sure to be a wild ride.
The opening week for Kalamazoo could be more interesting than first thought. The weather has really taken a turn for the worst for a league trying to get it's season underway. This weather in Kalamazoo has been wet and chilly with temperatures in the mid-50s...which is probably why this poor fellow is wearing gloves. But Kalamazoo looks as if they'll try to tough it out as depicted in one of the site's latest articles (Weather or not, here we come). Also they finally have the 2011 NL Preview up too.
