FT Wiffle Reunion Game

The tattered remains of Caputo Complex Wiffleball and FT Wiffle have merged together to create the Monmouth County Wiffle Association. However, only FT Wiffle met at "Lancaster Field" recently. By the way it's not the same Lancaster Field in the sense that it's not in the back yard. Gethard mentions the reason for this in the update video saying the yard is too small for a bunch of 19-year-olds to play a game in. Nevertheless the new set up looks nice - a lot more room for the players. The highlights video was preceded by an update video by Gethard. He mentioned that the tournament that was to include remnants of FT Wiffle and Caputo Complex, as well as anyone else interested in playing was taking longer to organize than originally planned. He attributes this to delays in the delivery of components in which they plan to build the new field with (particularly the fence). Gethard admits that they could have had a simple set up and had a "simple game" but that just wouldn't be their style. He talks of making it "bigger and better" than anything they've ever done. That's cool. But he might not be noticing that summer is running out and all the players will be dispersing once more to their colleges and universities. Can he make this happen before it's time to head to the university book store? We'll keep you posted.

FT Wiffle/Caputo Complex Unite!

This was announced over a month ago but the wheels have been set in motion for some wiffleball action for their area this summer. For now they're only planning to have a 4th of July Tournament and perhaps that might be all that they can get together for 2011. That will be more than good enough. FT Wiffle and Caputo Complex were two of the finest wiffleball leagues to follow on Youtube. Seriously. The quality and depth of their videos was unrivaled and when both leagues decided to simultaneously call it quits after high school graduation it left a void that other leagues have been trying to fill with their videos. When Steven Gethard shut down the lights of his precious Lancaster Field last summer in their farewell video it actually pulled at you emotionally. I said my piece in comments on each league's final videos pretty much saying 'yeah, yeah, you'll be back. anyone who loves the game this much can't just walk away from it forever.' And I was right. Both leagues, which are actually geographically close to one another are joining forces to create the Monmouth County Wiffleball Association. I'm expecting to see some amazing videos with some amazing plays and in depth coverage. It's not yet known if they'll only be playing July 4th or for the whole weekend but hopefully the video(s) will be worth the wait. I also don't know where they'll be playing...hopefully Lancaster Field. I'll keep you posted as more details arise.

Now this is a Top 10 video!

This video has it all: good narration, a descent set-up, oh... and impressive plays (it's kind of a must). I've got to say I'm a big fan of FT Wiffle. I watched them more than any other league last year. They are possibly not returning for any seasons due to players going away to college but this league is a shining example of what every league should strive for. They've got a tight-knit group, amazing players, a great field, an amazing and creative commissioner, a website, and great equipment (lights, backstop, etc.). If you've never really been into this league, give them a try. They're kind of like Caputo Complex and have even played them in the past (the two leagues are close to each other in proximity). But their Youtube channel is worth the visit. They are one of the easiest leagues to follow and they do well filming their games.
